How I Healed my PTSD

The following are the various steps I took to heal myself from PTSD, I did not go to a therapy because I couldn’t trust people so this took a lot longer than it should have. Some of this will be considered woo-woo and toxic positivity, but it all helped. My PTSD was extravagant. I didn’t trust the ground beneath me was actually there. I freaked out that I was falling when sitting on the ground. My fear of people was so bad I couldn’t go grocery shopping unless it was 2am. I believed if a man was in reaching distance of me that he was going to kill me. I was having panic attacks in my sleep, waking up with heart issues. Some days it was bad enough I thought “this is it, I’m going to have a heart attack and die.” At first I resigned myself to my fate; no one cared, I lost the best life could have been, I obviously wasn’t worth staying alive. Avoiding the Triggers Yes this is not recommended, but for the beginning part of my journey it was necessary to stay away from anythi...

Giving Your Ills to Mom

(((This is a cross post from my spiritual blog))) Through out ancient human history, the ocean has housed our deities. The eldest of cultures has it as our mother or the blood of our mother (we find this in science as the evolutionary theory that all life began in the sea). It eventually went from our mother to powerful gods to demons to a conduit for the mighty dead. As humans we have always had a deep fascination and love for the sea even as modern societies forgot the spiritual connections. The Surfrider Foundation is great for recognizing our origins in the ocean by calling her Mom still during their fund raising events like “Music for Our Mother Ocean.” It was one of the reasons why I got into supporting them to be honest. If you revere the ocean, or water, as our mother still and return to her when you have a problem then you can release your pains to her just like you would a human mother. Water has several meanings depending on who you speak to and what era you look at. I ...

Change the Record

In our life we accumulate a collection of various records that get played back in our mind's record player during various emotional states. Most of these records are positive in nature, a few will be detrimental; all will be perception based. The authors of these records are rarely ourselves; they are often parents, schoolmates, teachers, media, or society. These records you hear in your head are not the true you. Those of us who have experienced abusive situations have the negative selection in abundance in comparison to a typical person. They will tend to play in our heads during the best times in our lives. They are in our voice but the words of our parents, relatives, teachers, lovers, or society. We will tend to allow them to play for hours on repeat without taking it off the player and changing the tune to a more upbeat song. Let me give some personal examples for a minute. I have a few of these records that will say such things like: - "You do not deserve love beca...
